Bill Title: Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that in counties having an appointed county assessor or county supervisor of assessments, the county may change from appointing to electing its county assessor or county supervisor of assessments after a referendum of the voters. Provides for a referendum after adoption of an ordinance by the county board or county board of commissioners or upon the filing of a petition signed by 2% of the registered voters of the county. Provides that upon approval of a referendum: (i) the county assessor or county supervisor of assessments shall be elected at the general election next following the approval of the referendum and at the general election every 4 years thereafter; and (ii) the term of any appointed county assessor or county supervisor of assessments shall end when a successor is elected and qualified. Effective immediately.
