Summary

Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Exempts from the statutes concerning unlawful use of weapons and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in relation to the carrying or possession of a concealed firearm and the carrying or possession of a firearm upon public lands in a municipality, a person licensed under the Real Estate License Act of 2000, as a real estate broker, real estate salesperson, or leasing agent, while actually engaged in the performance of his or her duties. Provides that any person so licensed must have successfully completed a course of study, approved by and supervised by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, consisting of not less than 40 hours of training which includes theory of law enforcement, liability for acts, and the handling of weapons.
