Summary

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code and the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that persons who are not certified members of a fire department who have been regularly employed as a part-time or paid-on-call firefighter or firefighter-paramedic for a period in excess of 12 months shall be preferred for employment. Specifies that the employment must be authorized by the terms of an agreement made between the respective employer and exclusive bargaining agent.
