Summary

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Defines "assault weapon", "assault weapon attachment", "antique firearm", ".50 caliber rifle", ".50 caliber cartridge", "locking mechanism", and "large capacity ammunition feeding device", . Provides that, with exceptions, it is unlawful to knowingly possess, deliver, sell, or purchase or cause to be delivered, sold, or purchased or cause to be possessed by another, an assault weapon, assault weapon attachment, .50 caliber rifle, or .50 caliber cartridge. Provides penalties for violations. Provides that the Department of State Police shall take all steps necessary to carry out the requirements of the new provisions within 180 days after the effective date. Provides that, with exceptions, it is unlawful to knowingly deliver, sell, purchase, or possess or cause to be delivered, sold, or purchased a large capacity ammunition feeding device. Provides penalties for violations. Effective immediately.
