Summary

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. In a provision requiring the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish policies, procedures, standards, and criteria by rule for the acquisition, repair, and replacement of orthotic and prosthetic devices and durable medical equipment, provides that such rules, policies, procedures, and standards shall allow for the purchase, lease, lease-purchase, or rental of a hand-held tablet device and appropriate applications for an individual with a communication disorder affecting expressive or receptive language when the acquisition of such device and applications is determined by a qualified professional to be appropriate to meet the needs of the individual and has a lower cost than other communications technology under consideration for the individual. Effective immediately.
