| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2919

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2919 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 12-6.2-5 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (720 ILCS 5/12-6.2-5 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 12-6.2-5. Extortion. | ||||||
| 8 | (a) A person commits extortion when he or she knowingly | ||||||
| 9 | obtains, or
causes to be obtained, property, services, | ||||||
| 10 | something of value, advantage or immunity,
from another person, | ||||||
| 11 | with that person's consent, when the consent is induced by | ||||||
| 12 | wrongful use of the threat of fear or actual or
threatened | ||||||
| 13 | force, violence, or under color of official right. | ||||||
| 14 | (b) Sentence. Extortion is a Class 3 felony.".
