2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1358, AS AMENDED, | ||||||
3 | with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment | ||||||
4 | No. 1 on page 17, immediately below line 17, by inserting the | ||||||
5 | following:

6 | "Section 83. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended | ||||||
7 | by changing Section 3 as follows:

10 | (Section scheduled to be repealed on December 31, 2025) | ||||||
11 | Sec. 3. (a) By July 1, 2017, every local public agency | ||||||
12 | shall be within the jurisdiction of a 9-1-1 system. | ||||||
13 | (b) Within 18 months of the awarding of a contract to a | ||||||
14 | vendor certified under Section 13-900 of the Public Utilities | ||||||
15 | Act to provide Next Generation 9-1-1 service, every 9-1-1 | ||||||
16 | system in Illinois, except in a municipality with a population |

1 | over 500,000, shall provide Next Generation 9-1-1 service. A | ||||||
2 | municipality with a population over 500,000 shall provide Next | ||||||
3 | Generation 9-1-1 service by January 1, 2026 December 31, 2023 . | ||||||
4 | (c) Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit or | ||||||
5 | discourage in any way the formation of multijurisdictional or | ||||||
6 | regional systems, and any system established pursuant to this | ||||||
7 | Act may include the territory of more than one public agency or | ||||||
8 | may include a segment of the territory of a public agency. | ||||||
