| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 171

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 171 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
| 5 | 2-1003.5 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (55 ILCS 5/2-1003.5 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 2-1003.5. Creation of standing committees by | ||||||
| 8 | chairman; appointment of members. With the advice and consent | ||||||
| 9 | of a majority of the county board, a county board chairman | ||||||
| 10 | elected by the voters of the county shall: (1) create standing | ||||||
| 11 | committees; and (2) appoint members and chairpersons to | ||||||
| 12 | standing committees. This Section applies to counties having a | ||||||
| 13 | population between 300,000 and 900,000.".
