S.F. 2141 Section 1. Section 80.9, Code 2014, is amended by adding the 1 following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 10. The department of public safety shall 3 develop and publish a notice on the department’s internet site 4 of the existence of a national, toll-free telephone hotline 5 available as a resource for service providers and community 6 members to provide information relating to human trafficking 7 and to assist in identifying human trafficking victims. The 8 notice shall provide information about the services of the 9 hotline, including the reporting of suspected human trafficking 10 activity, resource and referral programs for victims of human 11 trafficking, and training opportunities for service providers. 12 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 710A.6 Support services. 13 The department of public safety shall provide a notice 14 on the department’s internet site relating to the existence 15 of a national, toll-free telephone hotline available as a 16 resource for service providers and community members to provide 17 information relating to human trafficking and to assist in 18 identifying human trafficking victims pursuant to section 80.9, 19 subsection 10. 20 EXPLANATION 21 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 22 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 23 This bill requires the department of public safety to 24 develop and publish a notice on the department’s internet site 25 of the existence of a national, toll-free telephone hotline 26 available as a resource for service providers and community 27 members to provide information relating to human trafficking 28 and to assist in identifying human trafficking victims.
