AN ACT
RELATING TO THE EMPLOYMENT AND DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OF THE DENTAL BOARD.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. Section 153.33, subsection 3, Code 2015, is
amended to read as follows:
3. All employees needed to administer this chapter except
the executive director shall be appointed pursuant to the merit
system. The executive director shall serve at the pleasure of
the board and shall be exempt from the merit system provisions
of chapter 8A, subchapter IV.
Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 153.33B Executive director == duties.
The board shall appoint a full=time executive director. The
executive director shall not be a member of the board. The
duties of the executive director shall be the following:
1. To receive all applications for the following:
a. Licensure as a dentist or dental hygienist.
b. Registration as a dental assistant.
c. Permission to administer sedation or anesthesia.
d. Any other activity for which an application to the board
is required.
2. To collect and receive all fees.
3. To keep all records pertaining to licensure,
registration, enforcement, and other board actions, including a
record of all board proceedings.
4. To perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the
board.
5. To appoint assistants to the director and other persons
necessary to administer this chapter.
