Section 692A.128, subsection 3, Code 2017, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 3. The application shall be filed in the sex offender's 1 4 county of principal residence, or in the county where the 1 5 conviction occurred if the sex offender no longer resides in 1 6 this state and has been placed on inactive status. 1 7 EXPLANATION 1 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 9 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 10 This bill relates to the filing of applications to modify the 1 11 sex offender registration requirements of Code chapter 692A. 1 12 The bill provides that a sex offender applying to modify the 1 13 sex offender registry requirements pursuant to Code section 1 14 692A.128 may file the application in the county where the 1 15 conviction for the sex offense occurred if the offender has 1 16 been placed on inactive status under Code section 692A.106(7) 1 17 and no longer resides in this state.
