Section
664A.8,
Code
2023,
is
amended
to
read
as

follows:

664A.8
Extension
of
no-contact
order.

Upon
the
filing
of
an
application
by
the
state
or
by
the
4
victim
of
any
public
offense
referred
to
in
section
664A.2,
5
subsection
1
which
is
filed
within
ninety
days
prior
to
the
6
expiration
of
a
modified
no-contact
order,
the

court
shall
7
modify
and
extend
the
no-contact
order
upon
the
expiration
of
8
the
no-contact
order
for
an
additional
period
of
five
years,
9
unless
,
upon
the
filing
of
an
application
by
the
defendant
10
within
ninety
days
prior
to
the
expiration
of
a
modified
11
no-contact
order,
the
court
finds
that
the
defendant
no
longer
12
poses
a
threat
to
the
safety
of
the
victim,
persons
residing
13
with
the
victim,
or
members
of
the
victim’s
family.
The
number
14
of
modifications
extending
the
no-contact
order
permitted
by
15
this
section
is
not
limited.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
modification
and
extension
of
a
20
no-contact
order.

Current
law
provides
that
upon
the
filing
of
an
application
22
by
the
state
or
by
a
victim
of
domestic
abuse
assault,
23
harassment,
stalking,
sexual
abuse
in
the
first,
second,
or
24
third
degree,
or
any
other
public
offense
for
which
there
is
a
25
victim
which
is
filed
within
90
days
prior
to
the
expiration
of
26
a
modified
no-contact
order,
the
court
shall
modify
and
extend
27
the
no-contact
order
for
an
additional
period
of
five
years
28
unless
the
court
finds
the
defendant
no
longer
poses
a
threat
29
to
the
safety
of
the
victim,
persons

with
the
victim,

or
members
of
the
victim’s
family.

The
bill
provides
that
the
court
