SECTION

Dyslexia
service
providers.
1
The
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
may
engage
an
2
independent
contractor
to
serve
as
a
dyslexia
service
provider.

The
dyslexia
service
provider
shall
provide
technical
guidance
4
and
assistance,
including
professional
development,
strategies,
5
and
materials
to
the
school
district
relating
to
identification
6
of
and
instruction
for
students
with
characteristics
of
7
dyslexia.
The
service
provider
shall
be
highly
trained
in
8
dyslexia
and
have
a
minimum
of
three
years
of
field
experience
9
in
screening,
identifying,
and
treating
dyslexia
and
related
10
disorders.

does

constitute

the

the

This
bill
authorizes
the
boards
of
directors
of
school

districts

engage
independent
contractors

serve

providers.
Dyslexia
service
providers

are
required
to
provide

guidance
and
assistance,

including

development,
strategies,
and
materials
19
to
the
school
district
relating
to
the

of

for
students
with

of
