ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY == SUPPLEMENTAL 1 2 NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS == HEALTHY FOOD 1 3 PURCHASES. There is appropriated from the general fund of the 1 4 state to the economic development authority for the fiscal year 1 5 beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2017, the following 1 6 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the 1 7 purposes designated: 1 8 To provide grants to main street communities under the main 1 9 street Iowa program for nonprofit farmers' market associations 1 10 to incentivize supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) 1 11 participants to spend their benefits on fresh fruits and 1 12 vegetables at farmers' markets across the state: 1 13 .................................................. $ 75,000 1 14 A grant application submitted by a main street community 1 15 shall contain a commitment of a 25 percent match of the grant 1 16 assistance. Grant moneys shall not be used for administrative 1 17 purposes. 1 18 EXPLANATION 1 19 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 20 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 21 This bill appropriates $75,000 from the general fund of the 1 22 state to the economic development authority for the fiscal 1 23 year beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2017, to 1 24 provide grants to main street communities under the main street 1 25 Iowa program for nonprofit farmers' market associations to 1 26 incentivize supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) 1 27 participants to spend their benefits on fresh fruits and 1 28 vegetables at farmers' markets across the state.
