SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
requesting the county of maui to audit the maui county film office.
WHEREAS, the Maui County Film Office was established in 1994, as part of the Office of Economic Development of the County of Maui; and
WHEREAS, the mission statement of the Maui County Film Office is "to bring social and economic benefits to the citizens of Maui County through the inception, retention and thoughtful, meaningful growth of film, TV and new media"; and
WHEREAS, according to its website, the Maui County Film Office provides the following services:
(1) Film permit processing;
(2) Assistance in working with other authorizing agencies, such as the State, Maui Police Department, and Department of Parks and Recreation of the County of Maui;
(3) Online location database;
(4) Crew information;
(5) Support services; and
(6) Assistance with industry-related business development; and
WHEREAS, according to reports from the local film industry, the Maui County Film Office is difficult to contact and unhelpful when reached; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2024, the House of Representatives concurring, that the County of Maui is requested to audit the Maui County Film Office; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of the County of Maui, Chair of the Maui County Council, Economic Development Director of the County of Maui, and Film Commissioner of the County of Maui.
