A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to internet access.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) The department of business, economic development, and tourism, with the assistance of the department of education, the department of human services, the department of transportation, the Hawaii public housing authority, and appropriate internet service providers, shall develop a plan to ensure that all communities in the State having schools receiving federal Title I education funds shall have high-speed broadband internet access.
(b) The department of business, economic development, and tourism shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2022.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
