A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the kakaako community development district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that significant community concerns have been expressed regarding zoning changes for high-rise projects in the Kakaako community development district.  This district is under the jurisdiction of the Hawaii community development authority, which is exempt from county height limitations.

     The purpose of this Act is to set a height limitation of four hundred fifty feet for new buildings constructed within the Kakaako community development district.

     SECTION 2.  Chapter 206E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part II to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§206E-    Building height.  Any new building constructed in the district shall be limited to a height of four hundred fifty feet."

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.


     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
