A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO HEALTH.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) There shall be established within the office of the governor the position of the Hawaii affordable health care coordinator. The Hawaii affordable health care coordinator shall be responsible for developing recommendations for the implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act of 2010. The Hawaii affordable health care coordinator shall work with the department of health and any other department to coordinate affordable health care policy for the State.
(b) The Hawaii affordable health care coordinator shall submit a comprehensive report on the implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act of 2010, including findings, recommendations, budget requirements, and proposed implementing legislation, to the governor, the director of health, and the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2013.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the grant funds issued to the State of Hawaii under the federal State Planning and Establishment Grant No. CFDA 93.525 the sum of $150,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2011-2012 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2012-2013 for the salary of the Hawaii affordable health care coordinator.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the office of the governor for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2011.
