A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to THE merrie monarch Festival.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the annual Merrie Monarch Festival continues to inspire the perpetuation of Hawaiian traditions through a week-long festival that features an invitational Hawaiian arts fair, a grand parade, and an internationally acclaimed hula competition.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to support the perpetuation of the annual Merrie Monarch Festival.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2015-2016 as a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to The Merrie Monarch Festival for the perpetuation of the annual Merrie Monarch Festival.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the state foundation on culture and the arts for the purposes of this Act.


     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2015.
