TWENTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE, 2010
STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the department of education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-     Management audit.  (a)  The auditor shall conduct a management audit of the department of education once every three years.

     (b)  The auditor shall submit a report of any findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the governor, the department of education, and the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the next immediate regular session.

     (c)  The first audit report shall be submitted to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2011.

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
