A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capitAl improvement projects for the benefit of the seventeenth senatorial district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $26,940,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2013-2014 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects for the seventeenth senatorial district, as follows:

     To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Waipahu high school

     Design, plans, and construction of an all-weather eight lane track and field; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Designs, plans, and

     construction           $ 5,000,000

                   Total funding                     $ 5,000,000

     B.   Waipahu high school

     Design, plans, and construction for a new building with ten classrooms; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Designs, plans, and

     construction           $11,000,000

                   Total funding                     $11,000,000

     C.   Waipahu high school

     Design, plans, and construction for a new retaining wall and backfill to enclose and level off the back area of campus; ground and site improvements.

     Designs, plans, and

     construction           $ 1,000,000

                   Total funding                     $ 1,000,000

     D.   Honowai elementary school

     Design, plans, and construction for a new eight classroom building with air conditioning; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Designs, plans, construction,

     and equipment          $ 8,800,000

                   Total funding                     $ 8,800,000

     E.   August Ahrens elementary school

     Design and construction for ceiling fans in existing portables and second floor classrooms; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                 $    10,000

              Construction           $    80,000

                   Total funding                     $    90,000

     F.   August Ahrens elementary school

     Design and construction for renovations to restrooms in building B and the upstairs of building A; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                 $    40,000

              Construction           $   310,000

                   Total funding                     $   350,000

     G.   August Ahrens elementary school

     Design and construction for a new walkway at the front of the campus for pedestrian safety; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                 $    20,000

              Construction           $   280,000

                   Total funding                     $   300,000

     H.   Waipahu elementary school

     Design and construction for a new parking lot; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                 $    30,000

              Construction           $   270,000

                   Total funding                     $   300,000

     I.   Waipahu elementary school

     Design and construction for resurfacing and improvements to the existing playcourt; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                 $    20,000

              Construction           $    80,000

                   Total funding                     $   100,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2016, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the agency designated in section 1 for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.
