A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE hawaii TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The Hawaii technology development corporation is a key state agency in developing and supporting an innovation industry in the State.  In 2016, the legislature extended the lapsing date of a previous appropriation and appropriated additional funding for the Hawaii small business innovation research program.  The legislature believes that continuation of the program is important in supporting this industry.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of continuing the Hawaii small business innovation research program; provided that the Hawaii technology development corporation shall plan on providing grants and loans for phase III awards where applicable.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii technology development corporation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2019.
