HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

congratulating keith hayashi as the 2013 masayuki tokioka excellence in school leadership award recipient, sheena alaiasa as the 2013 hawaii middle school principal of the year and 2014 METLIFE/NASSP national middle school principal of the year, celia ann main-anakalea as the 2013 hawaii vice-principal of the year, and naomi matsuzaki as the 2013 hawaii elementary school principal of the year.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, KEITH HAYASHI is the 2013 Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award recipient; as principal of Waipahu High School, his college-prep initiative to strategically blend university courses with high school and internship experiences has given his students a unique opportunity to gain college credit while in high school; and

 

     WHEREAS, SHEENA ALAIASA, the 2013 Hawaii Middle School Principal of the Year, is currently serving as principal of Castle High School; she is also honored as the 2014 MetLife/NASSP National Middle School Principal of the Year and attributes her success to a culture that values people, students, teachers, and community members; and

 

     WHEREAS, CELIA ANN MAIN-ANAKALEA is the 2013 Hawaii Vice-Principal of the Year, serving at Kaimuki Middle School for the past seven years; she has helped to improve the school's standardized test score ranking from fifth to first place in the Honolulu District; and

 

     WHEREAS, NAOMI MATSUZAKI is the 2013 Hawaii Elementary School Principal of the Year, serving at Kahaluu Elementary School; under her leadership, reading proficiency rose from 46 percent to 86 percent, and math proficiency rose from 37 percent to 82 percent; now, therefore,
     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that this body hereby commends, congratulates, and honors KEITH HAYASHI, SHEENA ALAIASA, CELIA ANN MAIN-ANAKALEA, and NAOMI MATSUZAKI for their outstanding accomplishments and much deserved recognition, and extends to all of them its sincere mahalo and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
