HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2015 OIA CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, team competition has tremendous value in our public high schools, both in the fields of athletics and academia, in that such competition fosters group communication skills, collaboration, planning, leadership, and many other useful skills that are transferable to the modern workforce; and
WHEREAS, athletic achievements are reflective of a supportive public school system, dedicated administrators, outstanding teachers, supportive families, active volunteers, and proud communities; and
WHEREAS, the FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM fought through an intense regular season in the OIA, with seven victories against four loses, placing the young men in the league's DIVISION I playoffs; and
WHEREAS, the FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM demonstrated their courage by competing against the very best in an intense seven-day, single-elimination battle where the young men walked away undefeated; and
WHEREAS, with hard work and determination, the FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM has earned its second consecutive Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Championship, adding another title to the school's long and distinguished record of athletic success; and
WHEREAS, with an overall successful season record of 22 wins and 10 losses, the FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM pursued a shared goal and demonstrated the discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship of exceptional student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, Allan Silva, the team's head coach has demonstrated excellence in leadership by preparing the team to win the 2015 Oahu Interscholastic Association Championship; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, that this body hereby recognizes and commends the FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM for outstanding athletic performance and for their victory in capturing the 2015 OIA Championship.
