A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the penal code.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 710-1013, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (1) to read as follows:
"(1) A person commits the offense of compounding if the person intentionally accepts or agrees to accept any pecuniary benefit as consideration for:
(a) Refraining
from [seeking] pursuing the prosecution of an offense; or
(b) Refraining
from reporting to law-enforcement authorities the commission or suspected
commission of any offense or information relating to the offense."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
