A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Twenty-ninth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $62,767,792 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-ninth representative district, as follows:

1.   Dole middle school

     Plans, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for an innovation learning lab.

     Plans                          $495,750

     Design                         $495,750

     Construction                   $495,750

     Equipment                      $495,750

          Total funding                     $1,983,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   Dole middle school

     Plans, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for outdoor coverings for learning and meeting places and improvements to the cafeteria, including structural rehabilitation and replacement of windows, furniture, and kitchen equipment.

          Total funding                     $1,459,792

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   Governor Wallace Rider Farrington high school

     Design and construction for replacement of gym bleachers.

     Design                         $210,000

     Construction                   $210,000

          Total funding                       $420,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Governor Wallace Rider Farrington high school

     Design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for phase two of the master plan; construction of new classrooms, a music building, physical education facilities, and school gymnasium; ground and site improvements.

     Construction                $19,140,000

     Equipment                   $19,140,000

          Total funding                    $57,420,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   Kapalama elementary school

     Design and construction for transitioning to ADA compliance.

     Design                         $742,500

     Construction                   $742,500

          Total funding                     $1,485,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
