A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FORTIETH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $173,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects for the fortieth representative district, as follows:

To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   James Campbell high school, Oahu

          Design, construction, and equipment for air conditioning. 

              Total funding                       $ 13,000,000

     B.   James Campbell high school, Oahu

          Design and installation of new portable classrooms. 

              Total funding                       $ 5,000,000

     C.   James Campbell high school, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction of a stadium and sports and fitness complex, including installation of state-of-the-art technology, track and field, bleachers, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant comfort stations, and locker rooms.

              Total funding                       $ 15,000,000

      D.  Ilima intermediate school, Oahu

          Design, construction, and equipment for air conditioning. 

              Total funding                       $ 10,000,000

     E.   New Ewa high school, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction of a new high school.

              Total funding                       $ 130,000,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2018, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
