A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EDUCATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Cafeterias; volunteer student helpers;
safety. (a)
The department shall develop and implement safety training based on best
practices for all cafeteria student helpers.
The department shall ensure that all cafeteria student helpers receive
the safety training prior to the student helper volunteering.
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on June 30, 3000.

Description:
Requires DOE to develop and implement safety training for all cafeteria student helpers and ensure the student helpers receive the training prior to them volunteering. Requires DOE to provide personal protective equipment for all cafeteria student helpers prior to the student helpers volunteering. Requires all cafeteria student helpers to be directed and supervised by trained personnel at all times. Effective 6/30/3000. (HD1)
