A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to emergencies.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 128, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§128-     Emergency electrical power.  In the event of a civil defense emergency period, the governor may negotiate an agreement with the United States Navy to supply temporary emergency electrical power from its nuclear-powered submarines docked in the State to affected areas of the State, if feasible.

     The agreement shall terminate when the governor determines that the civil defense emergency period is terminated."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
