A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE GODDARD BUILDING.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to prevent the demolition of the Goddard Building on the Hawaii State Hospital grounds and convert it to a community center through a public-private partnership with a non-profit organization.

     SECTION 2.  The State shall cease all work on the planned demolition of the Goddard Building on the Hawaii State Hospital grounds.

     SECTION 3.  Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the State is authorized to enter into a public-private partnership with a non-profit organization for the lease of the Goddard Building at the Hawaii State Hospital, and the property thereon, for its conversion and use as a community center which shall serve all community members with a special emphasis toward support for Native Hawaiian children and kupuna.  The lease shall be for a term of no less than       years and at a rent of no less than $         per month.
     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
