A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Heritage High School girls cross country team on winning the 2011 GHSA Class AAA State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Heritage High School has a tradition of excellence and the highest ideals of academic achievement, training of mind and body, and sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, through training, talent, and determination, the Heritage High School girls cross country team earned the top ranking in the state with their win at the 2011 GHSA Class AAA State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the team of champions included Caitlin Craft, Mallory Edwards, Moriah Edwards, Jacklyn Elam, Natalie Espinoza-Hensley, Emily Poole, Jazmin Sanchez, and Brandi Thompson; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; and

WHEREAS, students, players, coaches, parents, and supporters all came together to make a true championship team; and

WHEREAS, the record-setting 2011 team brought home Heritage High School's first state championship in girls cross country; and

WHEREAS, the team was driven to succeed by Head Coach Jeremy Wynne, whose hard work, talent, and dedication are evident in the team's victorious season with each member displaying character, integrity, and perseverance to obtain this high achievement; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate the Heritage High School girls cross country team for winning the 2011 GHSA Class AAA State Championship.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the 2011 Heritage High School girls cross country team.
