A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Miss Cobb County 2010, Casy Walker; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Casy Walker graduated from John McEachern High School in 2007 with a grade point average of 4.2 and ranked 11 in her graduating class of over 900 students; and

WHEREAS, currently a senior at Georgia State University, Casy will earn her bachelor's degree in speech, maintains a 3.9 grade point average, and has been on the Dean's List every semester; and

WHEREAS, during her collegiate career, Casy has served as president of the Georgia State Honors Program and been an active member of the National Honors Society and the Alpha Delta Lambda Honors Society; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Georgia State University, Casy plans to pursue a master's degree in communication disorders, earn a doctoral degree in autism, and ultimately work as a speech pathologist; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to promoting autism awareness, Casy works as a speaker, promoter, and organizer for Autism Speaks, teaches dance classes and volunteers with autistic children, and works in the Georgia State research lab in an effort to learn more about the disability; and

WHEREAS, this beautiful, intelligent, and talented young woman was selected as Miss Cobb County 2010 and will represent the county in the Miss Georgia pageant to be held this summer; and

WHEREAS, extensively trained in dance, Casy has competed against over 2,000 dancers to win 15 national dance competitions and has dedicated her time, talent, and energy to teaching dance to girls ages three to 63; and

WHEREAS, by her many achievements, grace, and poise, Casy has brought credit to her parents, Ronald and Karen Walker, her community, and state; and all Georgians are proud of young women who, like Casy, represent the very best that this state has to offer.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate Casy Walker on becoming Miss Cobb County 2010 and wish her every success in the Miss Georgia pageant.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Casy Walker, Miss Cobb County 2010.
