A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Cadet Jessica Carlock; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cadet Jessica Carlock attends North Georgia College and State University on a U.S. Army ROTC Scholarship, where she is majoring in political science with a concentration in international affairs; and

WHEREAS, Cadet Carlock was selected among 100 of her peers to serve as commander of Foxtrot Company, a company of approximately 90 cadets in a 700 member corps; and

WHEREAS, she has held numerous leadership positions in organizations at North Georgia College and State University, including Student Government Association, the Academic Integrity Board, the Cadet Honor Board, and Alpha Gamma Delta; and

WHEREAS, a native of Lafayette, Georgia, Cadet Carlock is a graduate of the U.S. Army Basic Airborne School and the U.S. Army Air Assault School, and she has represented the university in numerous conferences, including the Joint Services Conference in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Cadet Carlock has earned distinction as a Distinguished Military Student, an honor given to top seniors, and upon her graduation from North Georgia College and State University in 2010, she will commission on active duty with the U.S. Army's Aviation Branch; and

WHEREAS, she was ranked number seven in the nation and number one from North Georgia College and State University on the U.S. Army's 2009 National Order of Merit List, which ranks more than 4,700 ROTC cadets on their performance at the Army's Leadership Development Assessment Course, physical fitness, campus leadership, and academic achievement; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is honored to have such a motivated and hard-working individual as one of its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Cadet Jessica Carlock for her outstanding achievements and extend best wishes for her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cadet Jessica Carlock.
