RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Barbara Wade; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Barbara Wade has diligently and conscientiously served the citizens of
Georgia and the Georgia General Assembly since 1975; and
WHEREAS,
she began her dedicated service with the Secretary of the Senate's Office as a
copyreader and then moved on to serve as an engrossing and enrolling clerk,
perfecting each piece of legislation and ensuring the utmost accuracy before it
could be sent to the House of Representatives and the Governor; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Wade has seen and conquered the technological changes that have been used
in the legislative process, from processing legislation on memory typewriters
with carbon paper and white out strips, to the transition from mainframe to
desktop publishing; and
WHEREAS,
a humble and selfless public servant who has always worked behind the scenes
ensuring the Senate's legislation is of the utmost quality, Mrs. Wade has never
met an amendment she could not conquer; and
WHEREAS,
she has earned a well-deserved reputation for her competence, patience, and
kindness, and her cheerful disposition and devotion to duty make Mrs. Wade's
company a pleasure and inspiration; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Wade is united in love and marriage to her devoted husband, Bobby, and they
have been blessed with four wonderful children, Susan, Michael, Stephanie, and
Brian; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Wade is an avid reader, country music fan, and recipe collector who proudly
brags about her great source of pride and joy, her six remarkable and beautiful
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Wade is an active member of the Mount
Zion Baptist Church in Snellville where she teaches Vacation Bible School and
leads other ministry projects; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the Secretary of the Senate's Office, both past and present, have
been privileged to have had her friendship and support for the past 35
legislative sessions, and her dedicated public service and kind hearted demeanor
will be sorely missed by her coworkers; and
WHEREAS,
the Senate Mezzanine will never be the same without her presence and she is
wished a lifetime of happiness and joy.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Barbara Wade for 35 sessions of service to the State of Georgia under six
Governors, four Lieutenant Governors, and three Secretaries of the Senate and
extend their most heartfelt congratulations upon the occasion of her
retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Barbara Wade.
