A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the North Georgia College and State University softball team; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the North Georgia College and State University softball team recorded an
incredible perfect 50-0 season in 2010, the program's third perfect season in
its 14-year history; and
WHEREAS,
for the second consecutive season, the Lady Saints won the NCAA Southeast Super
Regional and advanced to the Division II College World Series as the nation's
number one team for the second straight year; and
WHEREAS,
the team was tested along the way with a 10-0 mark against teams ranked in the
Top 25 and a 9-0 mark against clubs in the nation's Top 10; and
WHEREAS,
since becoming eligible for postseason play in the NCAA Division II ranks, the
North Georgia College and State University softball team has advanced to the
NCAA Tournament every season, making three straight appearances in the national
scene with two trips to the World Series; and
WHEREAS,
as with all of North Georgia College and State University's athletes, members of
the softball team maintain high levels of academic excellence, philanthropic
support, and community involvement; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision throughout the 2010 season and
have come to earn their well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic
achievement, quality of play, and superior sportsmanship.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the North Georgia College and State University softball team for its
unparalleled achievements both on the field and in the classroom and extend
their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Mike Davenport.
