A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Daniel P. Snope for his outstanding contributions to
education; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Daniel P. Snope, an educator at Savannah Arts Academy, is widely recognized
throughout his community and this state as the personification of excellence in
education; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Snope earned a bachelor's degree in professional aeronautics from Embry
Riddle Aeronautical University and a master's degree in education from Armstrong
Atlantic State University; and
WHEREAS,
he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty in the United
States Coast Guard and the United States Army, earning two Lifesaving Awards and
three Meritorious Service medals; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Snope began his career in education in 2004 at Savannah Arts Academy where
he continues to challenge young minds and inspire students as a mathematics
instructor; and
WHEREAS,
he is actively involved in promoting and uplifting the field of education, as
evidenced by his lifetime membership in the Georgia Council of Teachers of
Mathematics and the NightStalker Association and by his membership with the
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the American Federation of
Teachers, and the Georgia Association of Advanced Placement Mathematics
Teachers; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his outstanding dedication to academic achievement, Mr. Snope
has been named a 2010 Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Department of
Education; and
WHEREAS,
nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young
people, and Mr. Snope has, during his teaching career, exemplified the selfless
dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators;
and
WHEREAS,
it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Mr. Snope
for his outstanding efforts and accomplishments in education.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Daniel P. Snope for his sacrifice, foresight, accomplishments, and
contributions on behalf of education in Georgia, recognize him for the positive
influence he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in
this state, and extend congratulations upon his selection as a 2010 Teacher of
the Year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Daniel P. Snope.
