Recognizing and commending the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School participants of the 2008-2009 Youth Leadership Richmond County program; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Youth Leadership Richmond County is a program available to high school juniors that help students make significant strides in the community around them while continuing to excel academically in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, designed to expose, educate, and motivate potential young leaders, Youth Leadership Richmond County enables participants to take an active role in their community; and

WHEREAS, Youth Leadership Richmond County provides an invaluable experience for the future leaders of Richmond County by offering programs that provide an assortment of experiences in which students have the opportunity to develop and establish their own personal leadership style; and

WHEREAS, selection for Youth Leadership Richmond County is a recognition of demonstrated and potential leadership, commitment to the Richmond County community, and academic achievement; and

WHEREAS, participants from the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School include future leaders David Bailey, Courtney Barba, Lee Buoy, Kristopher Byrd, Michelle Clum, Angelique Green, Crystal Ann Green, Elizabeth Harris, Margaret Hennessy, Rachael Mura, Elizabeth Nimmons, Dalton Turner, and Aminah Walton; and

WHEREAS, the futures of all the communities of Georgia depend on individuals such as the Youth Leadership Richmond County participants, who are willing to dedicate their time and talent to civic affairs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School participants of the 2008-2009 Youth Leadership Richmond County program for their commitment to the future of their community and congratulate them for being selected for this outstanding program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School.
