A RESOLUTION

Commending Zoo Atlanta and its new president and CEO, Mr. Raymond King; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Zoo Atlanta is Atlanta's oldest cultural attraction and draws visitors from around the world by giving them an informative, educational, and engaging experience with the Earth's most majestic and humble creatures; and

WHEREAS, Zoo Atlanta, in partnership with the Georgia Public Library Service, has unveiled an exciting new program that allows Georgia residents to access the Zoo Atlanta Family Pass for free admission for a family of four; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Dr. Lamar Veatch, the partnership created between the Georgia Public Library Service and Zoo Atlanta will give numerous Georgia residents the opportunity to visit and experience all Zoo Atlanta has to offer; and

WHEREAS, Zoo Atlanta is also proud to announce the selection of longtime civic leader Mr. Raymond King as its new president and CEO; and

WHEREAS, Mr. King has dedicated 22 years to SunTrust Bank, Inc., working for the last eight years as senior vice president of community affairs; and

WHEREAS, Mr. King has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, the addition of Mr. King to the Zoo Atlanta family is sure to lead the attraction to even greater success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Zoo Atlanta on its rich history and tradition, recognize its amazing new Zoo Atlanta Family Pass program with the Georgia Public Library Service, and congratulate Mr. Raymond King on his selection as president and CEO of Zoo Atlanta.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Zoo Atlanta, Mr. Raymond King, and Dr. Lamar Veatch of the Georgia Public Library Service.
