A RESOLUTION


Commending University System of Georgia Outstanding Scholar Patrick Alexander Jackson of Medical College of Georgia on Academic Recognition Day for 2011; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Georgia's educational system is dedicated to the goal of providing a quality education to all and fostering the realization of each person's fullest potential; and

WHEREAS, the 35 institutions of the University System of Georgia are valuable resources for the people of this state, enhancing the intellectual, economic, social, civic, and cultural well-being of the communities in which they are located and the entire state; and

WHEREAS, Academic Recognition Day was begun in 1987 as a celebration of individual academic achievement and recognition of those students who exemplify that which is best about the University System of Georgia and its institutions: inspired and dedicated teaching and excellence in learning; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Alexander Jackson, a scholar from Medical College of Georgia, represents excellence in academic achievement and personal development.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that University System of Georgia Outstanding Scholar Patrick Alexander Jackson is commended for superb achievements in education and for being selected as a representative of Medical College of Georgia on the occasion of Academic Recognition Day for 2011.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Honorable Erroll B. Davis, Jr., Chancellor, University System of Georgia; Willis J. Potts, Jr., Chairman, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia; and Patrick Alexander Jackson.
