RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the congregation of the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers,
Georgia, for their service as a Host Congregation for Family Promise of NewRock;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the congregation of the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers, Georgia, has
recognized that poverty is a problem that stems from many sources and requires a
multifaceted response; and
WHEREAS,
under the divine hands and guiding leadership of Father John Kieran, St. Pius X
Catholic Church has become a Host Congregation for Family Promise of "NewRock,"
which is also referred to as the NewRock Interfaith Hospitality Network;
and
WHEREAS,
as a Host Congregation, St. Pius X Catholic Church has committed to providing
lodging, meals, and caring hospitality for homeless children and their families
in the community; and
WHEREAS,
St. Pius X Catholic Church will provide trained volunteers to serve the guests
in every area of need; and
WHEREAS,
as a Host Congregation, St. Pius X Catholic Church will provide a person or
persons to serve as a Primary Coordinator to recruit needed volunteers, attend
scheduled meetings, and act as an intermediary between the congregation and the
NewRock Interfaith Hospitality Network; and
WHEREAS,
St. Pius X Catholic Church is committed to making a one-year commitment to
promoting and publicizing the Family Promise Program within its congregation,
promoting and supporting fundraising events, and to consider budgeting annual
contributions to support the mission of Family Promise of NewRock;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the altruistic service of this fine
church and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
St. Pius X Catholic Church for supporting Family Promise of NewRock as a Host
Congregation and recognize the amazing impact the selfless service of this
church will have upon countless Georgians in need.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to St. Pius X Catholic
Church's Father John Kieran.
