RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Jonathan M. Jay on his service as a legislative intern; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Honorable John Douglas has been very fortunate to have had the exceptional
service of Mr. Jonathan M. Jay, whose work as a legislative intern has been
marked by his devotion to helping citizens and his constant commitment to the
highest standards of excellence; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jay has provided superior support while working as the 2010 Committee Intern
for the Senate Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security Committee, proving
himself to be mature, organized, and helpful, willing to provide any type of
assistance that is needed; and
WHEREAS,
he has demonstrated initiative and motivation, the ability to work well with
others, and that he is capable of undertaking challenges with ease and
confidence; and
WHEREAS,
he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Army as an infantry soldier assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at
Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, valiantly and courageously defending his fellow
Americans during a combat tour in Iraq; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jay is a qualified Army parachutist, Air Assault qualified, and graduated
from the Non-Commissioned Officer professional development course with a 98.46
grade point average, which earned him a place on the Commandant's List;
and
WHEREAS,
a junior at North Georgia College and State University, Mr. Jay is studying
history on a Green to Gold Scholarship, which allows the highest caliber
enlisted soldiers to receive Army scholarships for college and work to become an
officer; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jay's hard work and dedication have been enormous assets to the citizens of
Georgia, and all the members of the General Assembly greatly appreciate the
invaluable service of interns who enable their business to run smoothly and
successfully; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia looks forward with great anticipation to the civilian and
military future of this bright and promising young citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to
commend Mr. Jonathan M. Jay on his outstanding service as a legislative intern
and extend to him their best wishes for the greatest success and happiness in
all his future endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jonathan M. Jay.
