RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Randy Roden; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Randy Roden has shown by the example of his academic accomplishments and
athletic achievements that the pursuit and attainment of excellence are within
the reach of the students in this state; and
WHEREAS,
a junior at Rome High School, Randy is a gifted student who maintains an
impressive 3.9 grade point average while competing on the school's wrestling
team; and
WHEREAS,
Randy knows the value of hard work, and his impeccable work ethic and drive
inspire and motivate his teammates, coaches, and opponents; and
WHEREAS,
as a sophomore, Randy placed fifth at the state tournament, the first
underclassman of the Rome High School wrestling program to achieve this
incredible feat; and
WHEREAS,
he challenged himself to finish even better this season and began working hard
with the state championships in mind throughout the off season, but was
curtailed by a fractured leg; and
WHEREAS,
instead of giving up or feeling sorry for himself, Randy continued to be an
integral part of the team, attending practices, helping others improve their
skills, and leading by example; and
WHEREAS,
this amazing athlete became the first Rome wrestler to earn a state championship
title while finishing an undefeated season; and
WHEREAS,
Randy has earned a well-deserved reputation as a respectful competitor who is
constantly striving to improve his game play; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this
bright and promising young citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Randy Roden for his superlative scholastic endeavors and amazing athletic
accomplishments and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued
success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Randy Roden.
