A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Georgia's African American Horse Council Community Advocates; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, African American cowboys and cowgirls of Georgia diligently and conscientiously devote their time, talents, and energy to giving back to their community through education programs and community service efforts; and

WHEREAS, these talented individuals conduct hippotherapy, therapeutic horseback riding lessons, equine education, and work with at-risk and disadvantaged youth; and

WHEREAS, Georgia's African American Horse Council is committed to improving Georgia communities one horseback ride at a time; and

WHEREAS, passionate for animals and youth, Georgia's African American cowboys and cowgirls reach out to their communities to instill a love of nature and animals in schools, teaching youth that they are the future and the future is worth loving; and

WHEREAS, these dedicated community servants include Charles "Chucky" Brown, Darrell Brown, Roman Brown, Joey Cameron, Jessie Davis, Yvonne Edwards, Clifton Ford, Reginald "Ray Ray" Gates, Thad Reye Heard, Lawrence Henderson, William Ray Higginbottom, Ruby Johnson, Willie Joe Johnson, Jerome Lawrence, Julius Mitchell, Anthony Monts, Reese Queen, "Big" Rick Reeves, Stephanie Reid, James Harold Robinson, Dorsey "Fox" Solomon, Ted Story, Kevias Walker, Cecil White, Daymetrie D. Williams, and Stephanie Williams; and

WHEREAS, thanks to the dedicated efforts of George Turner, Gerri Pringle, Daymetrie D. Williams, and Jessica L. Robinson, the Horse Council's cowboy and cowgirl community advocates had the opportunity to visit the state capitol during the 2010 legislative session to meet with elected officials; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of these distinguished Georgians be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Georgia's African American Horse Council Community Advocates for their dedicated efforts to improving the lives of children and recognize their exemplary community service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to each of Georgia's African American Horse Council cowboys and cowgirls.
