RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Pacific Institute of Technology; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Pacific Institute of Technology received a $4,966,308 grant from the United
States Department of Labor through the H-1B Technical Skill Training Grant
Competition; and
WHEREAS,
the grant will fund the Putting Georgia to Work Program (PGWP), a four-year
state-wide project to train and place 800 under-employed and long-term
unemployed participants from metro Atlanta and across the state in Georgia's
high growth information technology and high technology sector that currently
relies on H-1B Visa employees; and
WHEREAS,
PGWP will target the high demand jobs of network systems and data communication
analysts, computer software engineers/applications, computer software
engineers/systems, and database administrators; and
WHEREAS,
the Pacific Institute of Technology is a leading provider of information
technology training; and
WHEREAS,
President Remmy Idaewor established the organization with the goal of sharing
the knowledge gained as a database administrator with those who aspire to make a
career in information technology in similar positions; and
WHEREAS,
over the years, many courses have been added to the program based on employer
demand for highly skilled IT employees, including Microsoft SQL SERVER, IBM DB2
Database Administration and Management, Siebel CRM Application Development,
Oracle eBusiness Suites of Products, Microsoft .Net Programming, Unix Shell
Scripting, and Informatica ETL Development; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
distinguished institute be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Pacific Institute of Technology for its contributions to higher education
and congratulate it for receiving a United States Department of Labor grant to
fund the Putting Georgia to Work Program.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pacific Institute of
Technology President Remmy Idaewor.
