A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Captain Tim Peebles; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Captain Tim Peebles; and

WHEREAS, Captain Peebles was a committed public servant who placed his own safety on the line to protect his neighbors and community; and

WHEREAS, he began his career in public service as a volunteer firefighter for Hall County Fire Services and was hired to the team on June 1, 1985; and

WHEREAS, Captain Peebles held the position of Firefighter I, Firefighter II, EMT I, EMT II, EMT III, and Training Lieutenant before being promoted to Captain as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Coordinator in 2000, where he was responsible for all EMS aspects of the department; and

WHEREAS, a community leader, Captain Peebles gave selflessly of his time to STAR Kids, Fellowship of Christian Firefighters, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team, the HCFS Explorer program, and the Automatic External Defibrillator program; and

WHEREAS, he was active in numerous professional organizations as a member of the board of directors of the Georgia Association of EMS and as a member of the Region II EMS Council, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs; and

WHEREAS, Captain Peebles was united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Dawn, and was blessed with the love of a beautiful child, MaKayla; and

WHEREAS, an avid photographer, Captain Peebles enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and coaching park and recreational little league soccer; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Captain Peebles will long be remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal brother, husband, father, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Captain Tim Peebles and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Captain Tim Peebles.
