A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Mo Thrash; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Mo Thrash has spent decades dedicated to improving the lives of children
with cancer through his work with numerous community organizations;
and
WHEREAS,
a highly respected lobbyist at the state capitol, Mr. Thrash was instrumental in
the passage of a bill that assured children with cancer would have access to
clinical trials and the latest treatments available to fight childhood cancer;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1998, his hard work led to Governor Zell Miller signing Callaway's Law, which
was named in honor Mr. Thrash's late son who passed away from leukemia at the
age of three; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thrash has devoted over 27 years to Camp Sunshine, an organization that runs
a camp for children living with cancer as well as year-round functions and
activities that provide education and support; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thrash has been an avid supporter of Camp Sunshine since its creation in
1982, serving as an inspiration to the campers and their parents and constantly
encouraging and uplifting the camp's volunteers; and
WHEREAS,
his jovial smile, enthusiasm for life, child-like spirit, and understanding turn
tears into laughter for campers and their families; and
WHEREAS,
he has served on the board for Camp Sunshine since its creation in 1989, and has
diligently contributed his time, talent, and energy to the organization's
executive committee and properties committee; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thrash's wife and his two daughters have followed his altruistic example,
each volunteering their time at Camp Sunshine, with one daughter serving as camp
director; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable man serve as a shining
example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have
Mr. Thrash as a citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Mo Thrash on his selfless contributions to children living with
cancer.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mo Thrash.
