RESOLUTION
Commending
Miss Chasity Hardman on placing as first runner-up in the Miss America Pageant;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Miss Chasity Hardman, the reigning Miss Georgia, was the first runner-up in the
2009 Miss America Pageant; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus, Georgia, Miss Hardman represented
the State of Georgia with grace, poise, and beauty during her impressive showing
at the 2009 Miss America Pageant; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Hardman achieved a life-long dream of singing on national television,
performing "Home" from
The
Wiz during the talent portion of the
competition; and
WHEREAS,
a fan favorite, Miss Hardman was one of four contestants placed in the top 15 by
fans who voted after the contestants appeared in the reality television show
Miss America:
Countdown to the Crown; and
WHEREAS,
a shining example of how determination and hard work lead to dreams coming true,
Miss Hardman competed for the title of Miss Georgia four times before being
crowned in 2008; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Hardman's first runner-up showing has earned her scholarship money she
plans to use to further her education in graduate school; and
WHEREAS,
the determination, drive, and congeniality Miss Hardman displayed during her
quest for the crown of Miss America serve as an example to all
Georgians.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Miss Chasity Hardman on placing first runner-up in the 2009 Miss America pageant
and thank her for her many contributions to the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Chasity Hardman.
