A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
Robert H. "Bob" Bell on the occasion of his 80th birthday; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Robert H. "Bob" Bell was born February 1, 1929, and will celebrate his 80th
birthday this year; and
WHEREAS,
he honorably served this state as a member of the Georgia General Assembly from
1969 through 1982, serving four years in the House of Representatives and ten
years in the Senate; and
WHEREAS,
for his service in the General Assembly, he was honored by the
Atlanta
Journal-Constitution Magazine as one of
Georgia's Ten Best Legislators in 1980 and by the National Conference of State
Legislatures as one of the nation's Ten Outstanding Legislators in 1981;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition, he received the Georgia Municipal Association Award for outstanding
service to Georgia citizens, the Association of the United States Army award for
exceptional service in support of national defense, the Friend of the Children
Award of the Council for Children for his work in juvenile justice reform, and
the Red Cross award for outstanding legislative contributions and was cited by
the National Rifle Association and the Georgia Wildlife Association for his
legislative service; and
WHEREAS,
he was the Republican Party nominee for Governor in 1982 and served as a term as
chairman of the Republican Party of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has been active in church and civic affairs throughout his life;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and determination; and by the example he has
made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live; and it is
only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of his life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body extend
their very best wishes to Robert H. "Bob" Bell on the occasion of his 80th
birthday.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Robert H. "Bob" Bell.
