RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Mr. Charles W. Ennis on the occasion of his 90th birthday; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Charles W. Ennis was born on March 19, 1920, in Baldwin County, Georgia, and
graduated from Georgia Military College in 1940; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ennis served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty in the
United States Army for 30 years, retiring with the rank of colonel;
and
WHEREAS,
over the years, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents,
and energy to improving the lives of others through his work in the community as
a member of the GMC Board of Trustees and as president of the Milledgeville
Chamber of Commerce, the Milledgeville Chapter of Military Officers of America
Association, the Milledgeville Chapter of the Rotary Club, and the GMC
Foundation; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ennis has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades over the years,
including the prestigious honor of being named Milledgeville Citizen of the Year
in 1986; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to the late Virginia Bell and has been
blessed with the love and support of five children, ten grandchildren, and one
great-grandson; and
WHEREAS,
the encouragement, patience, understanding, and unselfish love he has
demonstrated has provided the foundation and framework of success in which his
family members have developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
by the example Mr. Ennis has made of his life, he makes this world a better
place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be
appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of his
life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Mr. Charles W. Ennis on the occasion of his 90th birthday and wishing
him many more years of happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Charles W. Ennis.
