RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Richard R. Bias; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Richard R. Bias has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment
to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Louisville and a
master's degree in health administration from Duke University; and
WHEREAS,
he is the senior vice president of Strategic Partnerships and Affiliations for
Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center where he has responsibility for
developing the critical strategic relationships with providers across Georgia
necessary to enhance Georgia Health Sciences University's unique clinical role
as the state's only academic health sciences university; and
WHEREAS,
since joining the health system in 1987, Mr. Bias has served in several
positions, including senior vice president of Ambulatory and Network Services of
MCG Health, Inc., vice president and interim vice president of Ambulatory and
Network Services, chief operating officer of MCG Hospitals, and assistant
director of operations for MCG Hospital and Clinics; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Bias is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and an
interim Regent of District 2; and
WHEREAS,
an active member in the community, Mr. Bias has served on the Georgia Trauma
Care Network Commission and on the boards of Wills Memorial Hospital, the East
Georgia Health Cooperative, and the East Central Georgia Emergency Medical
Services Council, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Richard R. Bias for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated
public service to his community and the State of Georgia and extend to him their
sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Richard R. Bias.
